Labbra-l’Etang is the new fruit of collaboration between Jacques and Christian Diennet Tarting. A collaboration that is 25 years old and which resulted in the creation of "Mante" in 1985 and "Facile pour Cécile" and "Paupière de Miel" between 1984 and 2004.
This multimedia oratorio is based on a shared definition of orchestration by both the composer and author. The writing of Christian Tarting emerges step by step through the confrontation with his performers and is tested by the sound and musical creation.
The performers are chosen for their skill at improvisation as well as for their ability to perform what is written and what is improvised. The solo voice, with its central role, will have to play the character of the orchestra conductor in relation to the other performers and the pre-recorded voices. The voice will have to sculpt the various tons of its partners and to interact rhythmically with them. The performers and the public will be immersed in an atypical distribution system.
The image shown during the show has its source in a static shot over the seasons. The framework: l'Etang de l'or near Montpellier. The image interacts with the acting of the performers in terms of rates, heights, and intensities. This matter is dealt with by infinitesimal, gradual changes and is modified by the interpretation of the music and, more predominantly, by virtue of the soloist and the phenomena of detection caused by the Cosmophone which will, in turn "subject" the recorded raw material to other modifications.
